Chinoiserie Chic

Chinoiserie Chic

Q What is tipped for the top in the world of wedding?
A Stephanie Baragwanath says: So what's going to be hot in 2025? Chinoiserie.

If you've seen Bridgerton, you'll have no doubt seen a blue and white ginger jar or two filled with stunning floral arrangements. This romantic and elegant decorating style of the European interpretation of Asian influences dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries and is going to be big in the wedding world in 2025.

Stationery and wedding signage designs will incorporate traditional Chinese symbols, ornate borders and delicate motifs that reflect the Chinoiserie aesthetic.

Tablescapes will be adorned with touches of gold and blue coloured linens topped off with the showstopping ginger jar centrepieces and mis-matched blue and white china. These beautifully painted ceramic or porcelain vases filled with beautiful blooms will be showcasing the allure of the orient look. Not to mention, it will be the perfect accompaniment to your something blue!

The Chinoiserie theme works so well we'll see it pop up in every season. Couples can add additional contrasts of colours to complement the blue and white overall styling, including pinks, crisp whites, sage green, coral and reds.
