A new holistic haven comes to North Yorkshire

With breathtaking seascapes, unspoilt coastlines and cobbled streets, the picturesque town of Whitby and the quaint village of Sandsend in North Yorkshire are known by many as the jewel in the crown of the Yorkshire Coast. As of September 2024, this beautiful part of the county will be home to Saltmoore, a new, luxurious wellness-led retreat.

Perfectly positioned between the sea and vast heather-clad North Yorkshire Moors, Saltmoore will comprise two new hotels with 72 bedrooms, a state-of-the-art spa, and four food and beverage outlets, including a gourmet restaurant, a relaxed brasseries and a wellness cafe.

Hidden away among 85 acres of estate and local woodland Saltmoore House is an elegant 43-bedroom hotel overlooking pristine gardens and an orchard home to plum and pear trees. This historical hall takes its design queue from industrial mills and the Victorian era with its timeless, indulgent interiors. Its bedrooms range from cosy snugs to larger master rooms.

The House is also home to The Sanctuary at Saltmoore, which will feature an indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and relaxation room, as well as six treatment rooms including one double treatment room for couples. A holistic haven, if you’re looking to unwind pre- or post- wedding you’ll have a choice of treatments taking inspiration from the salts of the sea and the natural surroundings.

Also located within Saltmoore is The Beach House, a charming 29-bedroom property, just a stone’s throw from the House and providing further laid-back luxury, family-friendly accommodation. You’re also welcome to bring your fourlegged friend as this hotel boasts several dog-friendly bedrooms.

For those looking to work up an appetite or explore the countryside, Saltmoore offers a range of activities across the estate focusing on wellness, wildlife and nature, from cold water swimming in the lake, cycling and kayaking, to stargazing and picturesque picnics. Nature lovers will also enjoy spotting deer, pheasants, badgers, newts, bats and frogs that live on the estate.

Weekend room rates start from £400 and £300 midweek at both Saltmoore House and The Beach House. Find out more at www.saltmoore.co.uk
