These awards are a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team. Our commitment to providing exceptional, eco-friendly spa experiences has been at the heart of everything we do. We are so honoured to be acknowledged as a leader in the industry and look forward to continuing to innovate and exceed expectations."
Some of the eco-friendly attributes that Titanic Spa is proud to have are renewable energy generation, through solar photovoltaic roof panels, as well as the spa’s very own natural water source, found 100m below the spa. This was the original water source when the building was working as an Edwardian textile mill and provides fresh drinking water and bathing water for Titanic Spa’s plunge pool, salt regulated swimming pool, showers and ice experience.
How is Titanic sustainable?
Titanic Spa is set amongst the hill of the Yorkshire Pennines and uses solar photovoltaic roof panels to generate its own renewable energy. It has its own private borehole which provides pure Yorkshire water into the spa. This was the original water source when the building was working as an Edwardian textile mill. Today, it provides fresh drinking water and bathing water for the plunge pool, swimming pool, showers, and ice experience. The OTEX laundry system, also used in hospitals, is energy efficient and extremely powerful at cleaning.
There's a ban on single-use plastic on site, while low U value windows eliminate draughts and thermal mass, so the spa doesn’t overheat in the summer and retains a comfortable temperature during the winter. Energy efficient lighting and appliances are installed throughout the building to ensure energy is conserved.
Running a large business, Titanic knows how much waste can be produced in a single day. It makes it a mission to recycle as many materials as possible. Recycled paper is used for small batch runs of the spa brochure and vegetable ink dyes for printing. The staff and suppliers support the spa by keeping office waste to a minimum and recycling product packaging and office equipment. Straws at Titanic are made from seashells – a great biodegradable alternative. All food for Titanic Spa contains organic and fair-trade ingredients from locally sourced, in-season produce. The Titanic Spa unique Eco Focus Group continuously monitor and reduce the spas impact on the environment. The group is also responsible for researching and implementing new measures such as the single use plastic ban. The Spa is working towards being carbon neutral.
